About Holly
I'm the specialist for first homes, and your first home is my favorite assignment yet.
I'm Holly Brumm Furdo, a Northwest Indiana Realtor who helps buyers and sellers across Lake, Porter, and Newton Counties. My specialty, and the part of the job that gets me genuinely giddy, is first-time homebuyers.
With years of local experience and nearly $30 million in sales, I know this corner of Indiana inside and out, from the Lake Michigan dunes to the farming squares of Newton County. I love this place, and I love watching the people who are about to call it home.
A letter from Holly
My story
Northwest Indiana isn't just where I sell real estate. It's where my story began.
I grew up in Schererville and graduated from Lake Central, but some of my most important lessons were learned at our family's flower and gift shop, Brumm's Bloomin Barn in Highland. My mom and dad founded the business in 1972, and together with our family and an incredible staff, they operated it for more than 53 years.
I grew up in that business, and I truly learned it from the bottom up. I learned about personal service and attention to detail, marketing and merchandising, taking care of customers—and yes, even cleaning the toilets. No job was beneath anyone when it came to taking care of the business and the people who supported us.
But what stayed with me most were the relationships.
We didn't just sell flowers. We journeyed through life with our customers. We created their wedding bouquets, helped celebrate their baby showers, made flowers for their daughters' proms, and were trusted to help honor their parents when they passed away. Then, before we knew it, we were serving the next generation. Some families stayed with us for more than three generations, and many of those customers became like family to us.
That experience shaped the way I approach real estate today.
I've lived in Crown Point, moved back to Schererville, and now call Lowell home. I've experienced different Northwest Indiana communities at different stages of my own life, and the genuine people and relationships I've built here are a huge part of why I can't imagine calling anywhere else home.
In some ways, I feel like I'm still doing what I grew up doing—just in a different way.
At Brumm's Bloomin Barn, I helped families celebrate the important moments in their lives with flowers. Today, I help families find the homes where those moments and memories will happen.
A first home. Bringing a baby home. Birthday parties in the backyard. Proms and graduation pictures on the front porch. Holidays around the kitchen table. And eventually, sometimes, helping that same family move into their next chapter.
That's what home means to me, and it's why real estate has never felt like it's simply about selling houses. It's about people, relationships, community, and being trusted to be there for some of life's biggest moments.

Why a specialist?
Feel confident instead of confused. What a relief.
An agent who does a little bit of everything is fine. A specialist who does one thing all day is better when that one thing is exactly what you're doing. And I do it with a smile.
I know the money side, cold
Pre-approval letters, down payment programs, closing costs, earnest money. I've guided these conversations enough that I can tell you what lenders will ask before they ask it, and what programs might help before you even know they exist.
I know the turf, block by block
Lake, Porter, and Newton are three very different kinds of Indiana. I know which towns give you the most house for the budget, which streets flood the rumor mill, and where the best coffee is between open houses.
I've saved my enthusiasm for you
First homes are my favorite kind of real estate, full stop. Every buyer I help is someone's first chapter, and I take that seriously, and giddily.
How I work
Four promises I make every buyer. Pinky swear.
No pressure, ever
You set the pace. If the only thing you leave a meeting with is one clear answer and a week to think, that is a successful meeting.
No jargon, promise
If I use a word you have to look up, I have failed. I explain everything twice: once in plain English, once with an example.
No dumb questions
There are no dumb questions in real estate, only questions that deserved an answer the first time. Ask until it makes sense.
No surprise endings
Every document, deadline, and cost gets explained before you sign, so closing day feels like a celebration, not a plot twist.
The philosophy
A house is just walls. Home is the whole point.
I don't just match you with a floor plan. I help you find the place where your Saturday morning coffee tastes right, where the commute makes sense, and where you can picture the next five years. And then I get to watch you light up when you realize it's yours.
That means honest conversations up front: what you can truly afford, what you can't skip, and what you can absolutely live without. I'd rather you love your decision in year three than impress your uncle in year one. Your future self will thank you both.
Ready when you are
Let's see if we're a good fit. Spoiler: we probably are.
The first conversation is free, easy, and 100% no-obligation. You tell me where you are, I tell you what's next, and we both leave a little more excited than we started.
- Your budget, credit, and timeline stay completely private.
- You always know where things stand, even when the answer is “wait on this for a month.”
- If I'm not the right fit for you, I'll point you somewhere honest.
Got it! Thanks for reaching out.
I'll get back to you shortly, usually within a day or two. In the meantime, the first-time buyer guide is a great place to start.
